3D Typographic Book Cover Design
The 3D Typographic Book Cover assignment was an exercise in design
using experimental methods of building a legible and interesting image out of typographic elements. We were given an imaginary book title to start the creation process. My title for the assignment was "The Square Root of Lassitude." After inventing a narrative for our imaginary book we were then instructed to design the cover. Below is the brief plot: "A Florida high school teacher signs his Algebra 1 class up to compete in a national math competition. The team rented a bus and headed to North Carolina for the National Mathlete Olympian. On the way there they were all given 15 math problems to keep their mind busy during the long bus ride. Tom, a boy in the third row of the bus starts to daydream right as he was finishing problem 4. The boy slowly steps into a dream state where the math problems turn into his opponents in a futuristic arena. The only way he can wake up is if he gets through all 11 rounds undefeated. The race is on…. He has 12 hours to defeat the dark math problems or he will be stuck in his dreams forever." |
